Moon Palace Golf Resort & Spa June 2008 Review Vacation bliss at the Moon Palace the first week of June. This large resort offers much - great food, lot's of activties, best spa, great rooms, fabulous pools, mini golf, and superb service. This was my second visit to the Moon Palace (first one May 2007). Plan on going back again,
There are two distinct "resorts" at the Moon Palace - Moon Palace Sunrise and Moon Palace Nizuc. Shuttle buses take guests between the two lobbies on a continuous basis. The Sunrise section is the largest, very active with lagoon style pools that meander throught with bridges over the pools for guests to walk across. The rooms have a large balcony, many with a hammock. The Nizuc side is a bit smaller and more quiet. There are lagoon style pools here also, but you can't swim under the bridges like you can at the Sunrise section. The rooms also have a smaller balcony than at the Sunrise section.
Between the two sections there is a great mini golf course. Both sides have bicyles to use (included - closed shoes are required to use the bikes) and tennis courts. There are a couple of basketball courts, giant chess, gazebos and pleny of places to stroll (gardens or by the Caribbean).
Dining options are plentiful with 13 restaurants to choose from. At the Moon Palace there are no reservations required and you are never limited to one or two premium dining experiences per 7 nights. You can dine anywhere! Choose from Mexican, Italian, Northern Italian, Oriental, Steak, Brazilian, Seafood and buffets. Bars are pentiful ad premium alcohol is served, with no skimping on the amount in the drinks! Children (and adults) can enjoy a variety of smoothies and frozen non alcoholic beverages (in addition to soda).
Rooms are large, with flat screen TVs, a mini bar (full stocked and all included), telephone, free internet access and free calls from the room to the U.S. and Canada. At night there is a turndown service.
There is a separate Club house for Golf and Spa services. This is a large building that also has a sports bar, pool area, full spa, golf pro shop and two restaurants. Golf and Spa services are an additional charge. For "all inclusive" golf, packages are available to purchase at booking time.
The beach is beautiful, but seaweed does wash ashore. The Moon Palace does clean the beach several times a day, which helps.
The Moon Palace is great for couples, honeymooners, families, destination weddings and friends. Since the resort is so large that there is a lot of walking. Golf Club Carts are all over the property and take guests for place to place in the resort. The Moon Palace has all the makings of a fabulous vacation.
